This month we have been celebrating Black History and Futures month as well as following the Olympic athletes in Italy. Our primary students have been exploring the Forest of Reading books and will have a chance to weigh in on their favourite book later this month. Please join us from 4:00-4:30 on February 26th in our kindergarten room. Our primary teachers will be presenting the methods used to teach reading in grades K-3 and ways you can support early readers at home. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Morning Supervision</h2>A reminder that supervision on the yard does not start until 8:45. If students are at school before then, they must be supervised by an adult. Thanks for helping keep our students safe.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Kindergarten and Grade 9 registration</h2> Kindergarten registration is open! Please see the graphic below and pass the word along to any prospective Enterprise Eagles. We will hold a 'Welcome to Kindergarten' event in May. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">What's Happening at Enterprise Public School?</h2>We have had a very snowy month so far. Even with all of the bus cancellation days, our school is buzzing with learning and fun. Some of the junior students are busy writing speeches, primary grades are gearing up to read and vote on the Forest of Reading books and our intermediate students have all started online with a literacy program called Lexia. A few of our hot lunch and field trips have been rescheduled due to bus cancellations. When the buses are cancelled, we will always postpone hot lunches, school events and field trips. Please see dates below for the most up-to-date schedule.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">News from School Council</h2>School Council is organizing a candy-gram event leading up to Valentine's Day. We will be heading there again the Thursday, January 29th. The updated permission forms are open in School Day. Please make sure to fill out the new forms. Thank you to all of the families who came out to volunteer and support this event. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">What's Happening at Enterprise Public School?</h2>We are wishing all students and their families a happy new year. We hope the holidays were restful and full of fun. Looking ahead into January we have some field trips to Gould Lake coming up as well as Swim to Survive for our grade 3 students. Please continue to send winter gear to school every day. Even when the buses are cancelled, we make the best of our winter fun outside.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">News from School Council</h2>Thank you to the members of our School Council who organized the Elf sale. Students were able to shop and take home gifts for their family members. About Our School

Welcome to Enterprise Public School, a small rural school with a big rural spirit! We offer Kindergarten to Grade 8 students a learning environment in which everyone knows their name. Students interact with their peers from all grades on a daily basis on the playground and in classrooms. Our intermediate students are active school volunteers. Our playground is expansive with a wealth of play structures and equipment. Our daily intramural program offers activity to students of all grades during the lunch hour recess. Our school staff is committed to celebrating personal and collective achievements in a caring and supportive environment. We're proud of our school and our amazing community. Enterprise is twinned with Tamworth Public School and shares school administration.

Message to Families - February 11, 2026

Dear Families, The Limestone District School Board is deeply saddened to learn of the horrific events that took place yesterday impacting a school and community in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.  No words can adequately express our condolences to those affected. Our hearts are with the students, families, and community members who have been directly impacted by this awful event. While there are many national and international events that affect people on a daily or weekly basis, events impacting schools have an impact on everyone attached to schools and education. Significant events like these, that are in the public eye and heavily featured on news and social media, can have an impact on students and families in different ways. These impacts may look different for each person and be impacted by their source(s) of information and/or media coverage. We are here to offer support. The board’s Educational Services team is available to support students and families as needed. Educational Services has prepared the following tips to help families support students during this time: <ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Recognize that students may become concerned that something bad will happen to themselves, family, or friends. Explain that safety measures are in place and reassure them that you and other adults will take care of them. </li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">If your student is not focused on what happened, avoid dwelling on it or having detailed adult conversations in front of younger students. However, be available to answer questions to the best of your ability. Young students may not be able to express themselves verbally. Pay attention to changes in their behaviour or social interactions. </li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">For some, limiting exposure to media coverage or other sources of information may be important, particularly when social media platforms contain significant amounts of misinformation or disinformation. Images of a horrific event can become overwhelming, especially if watched repetitively. Young students may not be able to distinguish between images on television or their screen, and their personal reality. For older students who choose to watch the news or scroll social media stories related to the event, be available to discuss what they see and to help put it into perspective. </li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Be aware of your own needs. Do not ignore your own feelings of anxiety and concern or anger. Talking to friends, family members, and mental health counsellors can help.
